Meta held its Connect 2026 event on September 23, and this year it was all about glasses and AI. The company showed a lightweight VR headset in glasses form, a camera-free pair of Ray-Ban glasses, a new generation of its best-selling camera glasses, and a pocket-sized AI device. Here is a clear summary of everything that was announced, with prices, release dates and what each product does.

Meta VR Glasses: a headset that looks like glasses
The biggest reveal was the Meta VR Glasses, priced at $1,299.99 and due in spring 2027. Meta says they weigh about 100 grams, roughly five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 headset.
The design is split in two. The glasses hold the display and sensors, and a separate tethered puck holds the processor, storage and battery. Engadget reports the puck uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and supports 45W fast charging.
Display and features
- 5K micro-OLED displays with pancake lenses and full-colour passthrough video
- Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, and the first VR device with IMAX Enhanced certification, according to Engadget
- Control by hand gestures, eye tracking and Meta AI voice commands, with no controllers needed
- A virtual keyboard and touchpad, and connection to Windows PCs and Macs for work
- Battery of up to about 3 hours of continuous playback, as reported by Engadget
Games and entertainment
Meta says the glasses launch with dozens of hand-tracking games and support Quest titles with Touch Plus controllers. Beat Saber gets its biggest update yet in spring 2027, including a new Flux mode. Other hand-tracking games coming include Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities, Two Point Hospital and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Supernatural returns this fall with a newly independent team.
For video, Disney+ will offer 3D titles such as The Avengers and Black Panther in select countries from November 2026, and apps including YouTube, Prime Video, Crunchyroll and Plex are supported. ESPN will offer immersive sports, starting with college football, and Meta lists partnerships with MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports and UFC.
Ray-Ban Meta Audio: the first glasses with no camera
For people who want smart features without a camera, Meta introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio, starting at $349. Pre-orders are open and shipping starts on October 13, 2026.
- Audio only, with open-ear speakers, calls, music, podcasts and the Meta AI voice assistant
- Weight of about 43 grams, the lightest frames Meta has made
- Up to 12 hours of battery, and Engadget says the charging case adds another 48 hours
- Clubmaster and Burbank shapes, with prescription lens support

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3: better battery, new styles
The third generation of the camera glasses is on sale now. It has a 12MP camera that records 3K video, a six-microphone array for clearer calls in noise, and a dedicated button for Meta AI. Battery life is up to about 9 hours. New Aviator and Zena (cat-eye) styles join the Wayfarer.
A note on price: reports differ. Engadget lists the Gen 3 as starting at $449, while other outlets report $379. Check Meta’s own store before you decide. Limited editions, including Kylie Jenner and Lisa collaborations and an Aviator edition, are priced higher or in a different range.
Meta Ray-Ban Display: now easier to buy
The glasses with a small built-in screen, controlled with a wristband that reads hand gestures, start at $799 in the US and can now be ordered online. Meta lists them at £749 in the UK and €899 in Germany, France and Italy, where pre-orders open with shipping on October 13.
New features include:
- Cycling and public transit directions in the US and Canada
- Landmark-based walking directions, such as “turn left at the supermarket”
- Photo editing on the display and Dolby Atmos video capture
- Phone notifications mirrored to the glasses
- Holographic avatars in WhatsApp calls, starting in the US this fall
New Meta-branded glasses
Meta is also expanding its own-brand glasses. The Meta Adventurer is a low-cost option starting at $249, with pre-orders open and shipping from October 23. The Meta Fury is a limited edition. Meta says its lineup will pass 100 styles by the end of 2026, and it is adding a Mix & Match programme in the US for frame, lens and case colours. The glasses are now on sale in Singapore, South Korea and Mexico, with Brazil and the United Arab Emirates coming soon.
Muse: Meta’s personal AI agent and the Muse Charm
Meta also expanded Muse, its personal AI agent. New features include a real-time voice mode with customisable voices, an expressive avatar, visual understanding through the glasses, its own email address for carrying out tasks, and a Mac app that can operate other apps. It connects to services including PayPal, Expedia, Instacart, Notion and GitHub, plus a range of shopping brands.
The Muse Charm is a keychain-sized device with a small display, speakers, microphones and a fingerprint sensor, built for talking to your Muse. Meta has not shared its price or release date and says more information is coming later in 2026.
Health features: hearing enhancement
Meta announced a hearing enhancement feature for its glasses, cleared by the FDA for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss. You set it up at home by listening to tones, with no prescription needed. It launches in the US later this year at $149.99 as a one-time fee, or included with the Meta One subscription. Engadget says a 30-day trial is offered.
What this means for buyers in Nigeria
Nigeria was not among the countries named in Meta’s announcement. The glasses are currently sold in the US, Canada, the UK, parts of Europe, Singapore, South Korea and Mexico, with Brazil and the UAE next. That means:
- There is no official Meta retail or warranty support in Nigeria yet.
- Features tied to Meta AI, WhatsApp holograms, hearing enhancement and subscriptions may be limited or unavailable here.
- Prices in Nigeria would be well above US prices after shipping, import duty and the exchange rate.
- Check that any connected device you buy is approved for use in Nigeria. The NCC has been tightening enforcement of approval requirements for devices sold in the country.
Our recommendation
- Curious and on a budget: wait for Ray-Ban Meta Audio reviews, since it is the lowest-priced Ray-Ban option.
- Want the camera and AI features: the Gen 3 is the current mainstream model.
- Want the newest tech: the Display glasses are the most advanced you can buy today, but they cost more and the software depends on region.
- Want a VR headset: the Meta VR Glasses are not out until spring 2027, so anything you buy now is a different product.
